Precision in the Skies: ICAO Aligned Air Passengers & Air Cargo Emissions Calculator
CarbonAccounting.id is doubling down on our mission: building products and services that help businesses achieve credible, auditable climate compliance. In an economy where travel and logistics are central to growth, we see a persistent need for precise, defensible greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting. That is why one of our flagship technologies is a GHG emissions calculator tailored to air passengers and cargo, addressing both business travel and air-freight reporting with the rigor companies require.
From the outset, we designed this application in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines, ensuring methodological consistency with global best practice. Where we differentiate is in the depth of Indonesia-specific data underpinning every calculation. Our in-house database spans domestic and international airports, Indonesian carriers serving the market, aircraft types commonly deployed, and seat configurations actually used, context that materially improves accuracy for companies operating in or through Indonesia.
The application goes beyond basic factors. Users can select airline, aircraft, and seat-configuration options to mirror real-world itineraries; apply dynamic load factors that reflect how planes actually operate; and run uncertainty analyses to quantify the confidence range around results. That last feature isn’t just “nice to have”, uncertainty analysis is a mandated element in Indonesian regulations, yet it is frequently absent from competing tools. By embedding it, we help compliance teams meet both the letter and the spirit of local requirements.
Today, our application operates at a Tier 1+ level, delivering reliable, standardized outputs for most reporting needs. Our research roadmap is focused on advancing to Tier 2 and Tier 3 capabilities, which enable more granular, operator- and route-specific estimations. Achieving this progression requires close collaboration with authorities and industry, access to detailed operational data, and continuous R&D to refine models, factors, and validation protocols.
We are committed to that journey. CarbonAccounting.id will keep investing in data partnerships, methodological transparency, and product innovation so that businesses can report with confidence and act with accountability. In doing so, we aim to strengthen the credibility of Indonesia’s climate transition, turning compliance from a burden into a platform for better decisions and measurable impact.
