The Ametis Institute’s Sustainable Economy Division has partnered with Jayakarta Hotels & Resorts to build and pilot a carbon-footprint service for hotel guests. From our vantage point, this initiative is a practical step to make emissions information visible at the point of service, turning abstract sustainability goals into something people can see, understand, and use.

We began with two pilot locations (The Jayakarta SP Jakarta and The Jayakarta Bali) where the prototype calculates greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with a guest’s stay and selected services. The aim is straightforward: equip travelers and corporate clients with credible numbers they can use for internal reporting and sustainability commitments, without adding friction to the guest experience.

Our role is to ensure the service aligns with applicable laws, global standards, and hotel-sector best practices. That includes embedding consistent calculation methods, traceable data sources, and documentation that stands up to audit. By designing the toolchain around recognized guidance, we help Jayakarta Hotels & Resorts deliver information that is not only informative but also defensible.

The pilots are the first step in a broader rollout plan. Jayakarta Hotels & Resorts intends to extend the service to 10 additional properties across Indonesia, with full implementation targeted by the end of 2025. Scaling in phases allows us to refine operational procedures, staff training, and systems integration while maintaining accuracy and reliability.

For guests, access is simple: GHG emissions can be printed at the front office during check-out or retrieved via the official website at www.jayakartahotelsresorts.com. In doing so, business travelers can report trip emissions in line with applicable guidelines and standards—supporting corporate disclosures, Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions 2060 target, and the development of sustainable tourism destinations.
